KHELO INDIA – A MISSION TO PROMOTE YOUNG TALENT

Khelo INDIA scheme aims to promote sports all-over the country, thus allowing people to harness the power of sports through its influence towards, holistic development of children, development of the community, social integration, gender equality, health and lifestyle, national lifestyle, national pride and other social and economic opportunities related to the development of sports in the country.

MAIN AIMS OF KHELO INDIA:-

  1. IDENTIFICATION OF YOUNG TALENT: – In one year approximately 1000 athletes will be supported annually under this scheme in priority, sports disciplines to be identified by a high power committee for a period of 8 years. Accordingly, every year 1000 athletes will be added to the draft of the selected disciplines, which would ensure second and third tier athletes for such disciplines.
  2. AVENUE FOR IDENTIFYING YOUNG TALENTS: – National competition under Khelo India scheme which involves schools, colleges, universities and NSFS would serve as avenues for indentifying young talents.
  3. DIFFERENT SPORTS DISCIPLINES TO BE COVERED: – The duly formulated high power committee, will decide sports to be supported under this scheme at various time intervals.

THE GAMES:-

  • The Khelo India games are being held at NEW DELHI from Jan 31 to Feb 18 (2018). Fewer than 17 athletes have been invited to participate in 16 disciplines.
  • The games will highlight young sporting talent and show India’s potential in sports.
  • Talented players identified across different sports will be provided annual financial assistance of up to 5L P.A. for 8yrs.
  • Khelo India is expected to find young talents from different sports and groom them to become future champions.
  • It has been introduced to revive a sports culture at the grass roots level by building a strong framework in sports played across the country and establishing India as a sporting nation.
  • In this Mission, it has covered 16 sports that are Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Football, Gymnastics, Hockey, Judo, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Shooting, Swimming, Volleyball, Weightlifting, and Wrestling.

DELHI INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (DIFF) BRINGING COUNTRIES AND CINEMA CLOSER… 9TH DELHI INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL-2021 is being organized from 24TH TO 30TH JULY 2021, at AMBEDKAR INTERNATIONAL CENTER, JANPATH, NEW DELHI, as a Seven day event, in association with GOVT. OF NAGALAND, NDMC, INFORMATION & BROADCASTING MINISTRY and GOVERNMENT OF DELHI. THE CULTURE AND TOURISM MINISTRIES, FILM BANDHU, UTTAR PRADESH are our Associate Partners. The festival is approved by the INFORMATION & BROADCASTING MINISTRY and works as a composite body to promote INDIAN CINEMA, CULTURE AND TOURISM in INDIA and ABROAD. DIFF has now grown into a global platform joining hands to collaborate with a multitude of film festivals in many countries or offering support to a host of upcoming festivals across the world. DIFF aims at understanding the science, art and emotion behind cinema, reaching it out to the audiences far and wide and promoting Indian Cinema, Art and Culture. The Festival offers premier showcase opportunity for talented film makers and artists, celebrates AVANTE GARDE CINEMA, felicitates masters and achievers from all walks of life and brings countries closer by building bridges to enable cross cultural exchanges, social understanding and creative idealization. 8TH DELHI INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, 2020 will be held from the 25th to 30th JULY 2020 at the AMBEDKAR INTERNATIONAL CENTER, NEW DELHI. 8th DIFF 2020 is going to showcase 197 films from more than 56 countries and about 100 works of art displayed at the Art Show. Film Personalities, Artists, Diplomats, Political dignitaries and audiences close to 5000, will witness the spectacular Opening Ceremony, Closing & Awards Event and savor the vast variety of films screened during the festival. With the focus on African Cinema , DIFF will screen some very interesting films. Information & Broadcasting Ministry and NDMC offered invaluable support and association for this edition of DIFF as in the earlier editions. Jharkhand, Assam, UP-Film Bandhu, Uttrakhand became the State and Tourism Partner and ARGENTINA AND SENEGAL are the Country Partners this year.
