The cancellation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ferozepur has not only raised questions about his security, but this huge lapse has also put a halt on the facilities and development provided by the central government to the state of Punjab.

Taking cognizance of the serious lapse in security, the Home Ministry has sought a detailed report from the state government.

Whereas, The statement of Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi has come on the matter of lapse in the security of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who went on Punjab tour. He called a press conference and said that I am sorry that the Prime Minister had to return. We respect our PM. We had asked them (PMO) to cancel the yatra due to bad weather conditions and protests. We had no information about his (Prime Minister Narendra Modi) sudden change of route. There was no security lapse during PM’s visit. The Prime Minister’s convoy was stopped before the place where the protesters were sitting.

After a major lapse in the security of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Ferozepur, the role of Congress’ state government has come under the scanner. Questions are being raised as to whether it was a pre-planned controversy, in which the government of Punjab had colluded with the state police to give the Prime Minister a taste of what they referred to as his own medicine ahead of assembly polls in the state.
